Here are some of the tire-related questions we hear frequently.
When Do I Need to Replace My Tires?
The telltale sign is the tread. If it's too shallow on any of your tires, you probably need to replace all of your tires. A mechanic can measure the tread on each tire, but you can also check your tread yourself. You just need a penny. Place it upside-down in your tread and take a look. If you can see the top of Abe's head, the tread is too shallow.
What's the Correct Tire Pressure?
The right tire pressure can vary from vehicle to vehicle, and you can find the one specific to your vehicle will be written on the inside of your driver's side door. If it's not there, check the owner's manual.
Why Are Tire Rotations Important?
A tire rotation helps extend the lifespan of all four tires. We take your tires off and put them back on in different positions, ensuring more even wear. We will also adjust the air pressure if needed.
Is It Easy to See When my Tires Aren't Properly Inflated?
Generally, you're not going to notice if your tires are under- or over-inflated on your own. This is why it's important to have a tire pressure gauge on hand to test your tires when needed, or visit our service center.
Do I Need to Upgrade My Tires?
It depends on what you're doing with your vehicle. If you plan to take your Toyota SUV off-road, some all-terrain tires might serve you well. When you visit our Toyota service center in Elizabeth City, we'll help you sort through all your options!
