We all know that everything’s bigger in Texas. However, when it comes to trucks, the midsize 2025 Toyota Tacoma has the reins. In fact, it was the first midsize pickup truck to be named the “Truck of Texas,” and Hall Toyota Elizabeth City is diving into all the details.
Texas Truck Rodeo Details
The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) is a Texas-based non-profit association consisting of automotive journalists and one of the most recognized and influential groups in the United States. They conduct an annual event, known as the Texas Truck Rodeo, which brings together journalists to evaluate the latest trucks and SUVs on the market. The vehicles are evaluated in several test drives, both on streets and off-road courses.
Truck of Texas Award Winner
As a first for midsize trucks, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma earned the top honor at the 31st annual Texas Truck Rodeo. The all-new fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma was named the Truck of Texas thanks to its “diverse grades and new powertrains” according to TAWA President Cory Fourniquet. This is the third time a Toyota truck has earned the honors in the last four years, as the full-size Toyota Tundra claimed the title in 2022 and 2024.
Additional Awards
The trucks are also evaluated on their interiors, exteriors, value, performance, and personal appeal at the event. The Toyota wireless trailer camera received the Best Towing Technology award. Their innovative suite of safety features, Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0, also earned the Best Driver Assist or Safety Feature award.
